Starting this October, NBA fans will find a new home for basketball action on Peacock, which is rolling out several enhancements that set it apart from traditional cable and other streaming platforms.
Among the standout features is an optional “performance view,” offering real-time player identification and dynamic shot charts.
These charts show shooting percentages based on shot types and locations, enhancing the viewer's understanding of the game.
According to John Jelley, Peacock’s Senior Vice President of Product, the company plans to evolve these tools over time.
Viewers can expect updates throughout the season, including the addition of new data points and improvements to existing features.
In an effort to make live content more accessible, Peacock will spotlight ongoing games the moment users launch the app, displaying key stats such as top scorers instantly.
Another innovative addition is the ScoreCard feature, available on both mobile and TV. This interactive element combines aspects of fantasy sports and bingo.
Users can select cards with various predictions for instance, whether LeBron James will surpass 25 points or if Luka Dončić will record at least three assists.
Notifications will pop up when predictions come true, and players can collect points, challenge others, and aim for a spot on the leaderboard.
