Google is enhancing its AI systems to better detect and block online scams as digital fraud grows more advanced, targeting platforms like Search, Chrome, and Android.

This move reflects AI's increasingly vital role in defending users against phishing attempts, impersonation tactics, and fake tech support scams all of which are seeing a global rise.

Google says its AI now blocks hundreds of millions of scam pages daily in Search a 20x boost in detection compared to previous years.

These AI models are specifically trained to recognize patterns common in scams, such as deceptive language, impersonated identities, and fraudulent business listings.

The initiative is part of Google's broader commitment to reducing the online presence of misleading websites and improving digital safety for its users.

In addition to Search, Google has integrated AI into the Chrome browser using on-device models like Gemini Nano.

This technology helps detect scam-like activity in real-time  including fake system alerts or pop-ups that try to trick users into installing malicious software.

These alerts are handled directly on users’ devices, helping to minimize data sent to the cloud while enhancing security at the browser level.

AI now boosts fraud detection in Android's Phone and Messages apps by spotting suspicious patterns like unknown payment links or unexpected personal data requests.
